Preventative

Preventative dentistry is the most important for your overall health. When you spend time caring for your oral health now, it benefits you in the future. Since your oral health directly affects your overall health, preventive dentistry is designed to help you stay healthy for the rest of your life. Preventative dentistry also helps you save money over the course of your life by helping you avoid major dental work that costs thousands of dollars. If you’ve never heard of preventive dentistry, now is the time to look into what it means for you.

What is Preventative Dentistry?

Our dental staff can help you prevent health issues in the future. The better you care for your teeth and gums now, the less chance you have of developing gum disease, tooth decay, and periodontal disease in the future. When you minimize these health issues, you also minimize your risk of developing health issues such as an increased risk for strokes, heart attacks, and even diabetes later in life.

Preventive dental work is designed to keep your mouth as healthy as possible for as long as possible. Your job of brushing and flossing at home is helpful, but it’s not going to prevent issues from setting into your teeth and gums. There are specific procedures our dental professionals provide in the office that prevent oral health issues.

Our dental professionals work with you to create a preventive treatment plan to keep your mouth healthy, which includes regular cleanings, fillings, and x-rays every 6 months. Preventing health issues in the mouth is far easier than treating them once they’ve already developed.

Seeing Your Dentist Regularly is Beneficial

Waiting until a problem occurs to see the dentist is a problem for many patients. It’s easy to reschedule or cancel a basic cleaning appointment when life gets too busy or hectic, but it’s dangerous. Seeing your dentist for preventive treatment every six months allows us to stay ahead of your oral health issues, and it also allows us to diagnose any issues that might arise in the meantime. When we find issues early, we can treat them more aggressively and more effectively.

Gum disease, tooth decay, and periodontal disease affect not only you, but any future children you might have. Pregnant women with oral health issues suffer from an increased risk of delivering babies preterm and with low birth weights, which can affect their own personal health. If you aren’t willing to see the dentist for you, at least make an appointment to keep your oral health in check for your future children.

Preventive therapy is the best way to guarantee your future health. You can’t control many things in life, but you can minimize your risk of dangerous health issues simply by seeing the dentist every six months in addition to healthy brushing and flossing at home. Work with us to stay healthy and safe, and you won’t worry about the future of your oral health
